It’s amazing what one can do with a little training. And this was just us practising before we got our assignment for the day.

Yes it looks rough and messy, but I’m still learning. And it hasn’t been cleaned up at all.
We started by taking two pieces of flat steel, one on top of the other, then welding them together. Then we place them together at what is supposed to be a 90 degree angle and then fillet weld them together. Re-doing this type of welding is a good way to practice your control of the weld pool.
Trust me, manoeuvring a tiny puddle of molten steel is tricky.
