Ok, so the title is a typo, but I like it.
Went into town today with Frank, went to the builder’s merchant and ordered 3 lengths of 17-foot long 2 by 2 pine. Now, I wasn’t aware of this, but if you buy unplaned wood, as in direct from the sawmill, it is in fact 2 inches by 2 inches (or 50 by 50mm), but… if it’s planed it’s 44mm by 40mm. Now, my original design had it as 50 by 50, as I assumed. It’s not really necessary to change my plans because it’s such a small detail, but it will get finnicky at some stage I’m sure.
